If you have been living under a rock like me, you may not have heard about this: they are actually making a Black Rock Shooter anime. The number of episodes and release date are still unknown, the most accurate info being: "spring 2010"
So, why am I making a post like this so early? The big fuss is over the fact that on 30. September, a "Pilot Edition" was released. Don't expect much, even if these are 3 rather big files, they all come down to the same video with different mixes of the song.

For me, it was a somewhat disappointment. I have never been a big fan of the song itself. The visual style would be K-On meeting Gurren Lagann. The story seems too cliche - average schoolgirl gets a magic boost and transform into Black Rock Shooter to defend the earth from... a scythe-wielding goth chick? Seems like we have to wait until spring to find out.

The dissapointing part about this anime is maybe the visual style - animation and char. design seem to be sort of cheap for an anime inspired by a song inspired by a drawing. I would have expected it to be pretty as hell but oh well.
ReplyDeleteThe interesting thing about this anime (in case you haven't noticed) is that it will be the first solo project of the animation studio Ordet, which consists of many people who left KyoAni, for example the director behind the first season of Haruhi Suzumiya and the beginning of Lucky Star.
But seriously now, am i the only one who's concerned that BRS' gun seems to be a machine gun instead of maybe a bigass cannon? :/
I assume the final animation will get better, since this was just a pilot.

The story for black rock shooter stems from the original drawing itself. contrary to popular belief it is not hatsune miku. Black rock shooter comes from a drawing of BRS along with a story. the story is about how her sister was posessed by a spirit and about how after failed attempts of saving her sister her sister tells BRS that the only way BRS can save her is by killing her. BRS is too weak to stop her by herself so she goes and gathers allies, and the climax of the story is how she kills her sister and the world is saved.
